Mattie Henry Biography
Mattie was born in a small town in the west of Ireland and came here with his parents and two brothers, Noel and Tommie, in the early seventies. The three brothers formed the Noel Henry Irish Showband and spent the next twenty-odd years touring and performing across the country at dances, weddings and concerts, making a name for themselves as a premier dance band. In addition, he and his wife Mary ran an Irish music distribution company supplying Irish Import and religious gift shops throughout the country. They have been married for over 43 years and have 2 children and 7 grandchildren.
In 1991, Mattie made his first journey to Medjugorje, traveling with Noel, and a few brave pilgrims to this little-known spot in war-torn Yugoslavia. What he found was an Oasis of Peace that he has carried in his heart ever since. As time went on, Mattie left the band and moved on to other things, gradually building a reputation of his own with his rich baritone voice, which lends itself perfectly to what Mattie Henry is all about today: a man who spreads the Word of God through music.
Mattie was ordained a deacon in September, 2006 and shortly after ordination, he worked for the Archdiocese of Boston as a chaplain for 12 years, and now works as a tour operator for Marian Pilgrimages, organizing trips for pilgrims to shrines all over the world.
